Intimate/small weddings are my jam. There’s just something about the vibe of a small wedding that you can’t get with a large one! I’ve gathered a list of some of my favorite Maine wedding venues for intimate weddings and I am so happy to share them with you! All of these Maine wedding venues have great vibes and I personally think they are perfect for your small wedding day (under 50 people)!
Take a peek at the list below to see why these Maine wedding venues are some of my favorite in the state!
A small ceremony and reception site on the coast of Maine in Freeport. They have a terrace situated between the boathouse and coastal cabin– a great location for an al fresco dinner reception/party after your ceremony with cafe lights and local cuisine.
The perfect classy & urban vibe. The Press Hotel has some great options for intimate weddings (less than 20 people) that are truly beautiful! Stay in the Penthouse for getting ready, have your ceremony on their rooftop with panoramic views of the Portland Old Port. After that, host your reception dinner in one of their many beautiful journalism themed rooms.
RiRa is definitely one of the most gorgeous restaurants I’ve been to in the Portland Old Port. Their second floor section is bright & airy with touches of coastal decor and beautiful wooden beams. They also have many fireplaces that are breathtaking. All of this plus peaceful views of the ocean? It’s hard to beat (Their food is amazing, too!). They have several spaces upstairs that can be booked for your day that range from 30 guests up to 100. The Harbor Room is my personal favorite (seats about 30 guests) and I think it’s an amazing choice for a coastal Maine Intimate wedding out of the many Maine wedding venues.
Truly one of the most magical ways to get married in Maine is on a 100+ year old sailboat in the Casco Bay. Portland Schooner Co. offers one of the most incredibly unique Maine wedding venues where you can host up to 40 people on a sail of a lifetime. Imagine gathering with your closest loved ones on the dock and then getting married at the front of the boat at sea. Then, after the knot is tied, enjoy some bubbly, fresh oysters & lobster rolls, and a decadent dessert while you cruise around Casco Bay. Sounds like a dream, right?
(Pro tip: Make sure you have a backup location just in case it storms the day-of so you can still host your loved ones for food, drink, and merriment.)
A classy, coastal, boutique Maine hotel in the heart of a small ocean town. Whitehall is classic and timeless– the perfect setting is you are looking for a classy, coastal intimate wedding. They have an intimate wedding package for up to 20 guests that includes lodging. Have your ceremony on their property or, head outside to the Camden Amphitheater or to Mount Battie( if you want a little adventure).
Want a fun and unique venue that stands out from all the other Maine wedding venues? Bayside bowl gives a cool twist for a place to host your intimate wedding in Maine. Have your ceremony on the rooftop with a vintage airstream and the city of Portland as your backdrop. Then, head downstairs for your reception with their delicious inhouse catering & plenty of bubbly. After you’ve enjoyed dinner, get into party mode with some bowling and dance the night away with your guests!
Want a “classy garden party meets wedding” vibe?. Get ready in their onsite farmhouse with cute & modern touches, have your ceremony surrounded by blooms & wildflowers, then host a dinner party in their beautiful greenhouse with your closest loved ones & party the night away. This venue is naturally stunning with flowers in bloom around the grounds in the summer and their clear greenhouse. Add lots of twinkly cafe lights to the greenhouse and it is sure to be a stunner!
Do you love craft beer and great food? If you want a venue that is unique and will celebrate your love of craft beer– this might be the Maine wedding venue for you! Nonesuch River Brewing is a beautiful & classic New England post and beam brewery that has a stunning mezzanine with an outdoor deck that you can book for your intimate wedding. Have your ceremony on the second floor deck or at a nearby state park & then head to Nonesuch for good food, great craft beer, and dancing the night away.
A hotel in York, Maine that has multiple places to host your ceremony on their property. The great thing about this location is that it has views of Nubble Lighthouse and the coast. They have multiple packages including packages for just ceremony & portraits and an elopement package. A truly stunning location for a classic Maine vibe!
A fabulous choice for a “rustic meets the coast” vibe! Boone’s is a great place to host your intimate wedding in the Portland Old Port area! Their second floor has gorgeous wooden beams throughout, an epic bar, views of the ocean water, and some of the freshest seafood in town (their raw bar is fantastic!). If you want a classic Maine wedding on the water with great local seafood– Boone’s is truly a fantastic choice out of all of the Maine wedding venues!
