So, you’re engaged! Yay! How exciting! Being engaged is one of the best chapters in your life. One of the best parts about being engaged? Engagement pictures. So, without further ado, here are 10 ways to enhance your engagement session!
This may seem super simple but, it makes a huge difference in those ring shots on your session! Without dirt and grime built up under your stone(s), more light can get through and really make your ring pop! Bring your ring into any jewelry store and they will shine it up for you.
Golden hour is the time of day where the light is the dreamiest. Point blank. If you want soft, romantic photographs with the “glowy” light then this is the time of day you want. Golden hour happens twice a day; once when the sun rises and again when the sun sets. Go for gold y’all!
One of absolute favorite things in the whole wide world is a gigantic, fresh, floral bouquet. Fresh flowers at an engagement shoot (like a bouquet, flower crown, or floral hoop) add a romantic and editorial “pop” to your photographs. Plus, who doesn’t love an excuse to pick out some AMAZING flowers?
It seems silly to be telling you to relax but it is so important that you know that you can NOT mess this up. Really. I mean it. There’s no way you can mess this up. Just have fun and let loose and most importantly, trust your photographer. Their job is to make you LOOK and FEEL amazing. They will think about the light, posing, and angles. All you have to do is love on your future spouse and have fun. That’s it. You got this.
This is a booklet that I send to you once you book your session. It is filled to the brim with tips and suggestions on how to make the most out of your outfits. This booklet helps guide you to find the perfect, romantic outfits for your session. We’ll talk about colors, fits, how to coordinate, and all of that good stuff. This is a huge piece of making your photographs looking editorial and romantic.
It’s not everyday that you hire a professional photographer to capture your engagement photos. So, you totally have my permission to dress up and get fancy. Go to a salon, get a blow out, and get that make-up that makes you feel like Meghan Markle. Get your nails done while you’re at it. You deserve it.
Refer to your Adventure & Vows engagement style guide for inspiration on this one. Having two looks for the each of you adds even more variety to your session and images. Can’t decide on one dress. Bring both, sister. Problem solved!
The location of your session plays a huge role in how your photographs look. As someone who personally likes light and bright photographs, I recommend a location with a lot of access to the sky and light colored backgrounds. Locations like this will give you a lighter and romantic feel to your photos.
During your session your photographer might put you in a location that seems ~questionable~ however, your photographer has a vision in mind and has the super powers to make it look incredible. Trust your photographer and give them a chance. Odds are you’ll love the result!
You did it and you had SO much fun! After your engagement shoot, go out for dinner and drinks with your fiance (or brunch and mimosas if you have a sunrise shoot). Celebrate and get excited about your engagement photos and your future spouse. Add dinner and its a date, right? Boom. Best date night ever.
So, there you have it! 10 ways to Enhance your engagement session!
